Georgia set to take on Oklahoma State

Stillwater, OK- The 2009 football season is finally here for the Georgia Bulldogs!! The 13th ranked Bulldogs go into their opener with reports that starting QB Joe Cox has had flu-like symptoms this week, but, expects to make the trip out west. This adds even more interest to a matchup that many Oklahoma State folks are calling; the "biggest game in the history of their (Okl. State's) program". Wow! Do you think the Cowboys will be fired-up for this one? With a preseason top 10 ranking, the Cowboys are circling this game as an opportunity to put their program alongside the nations elite programs. The Dawgs, on the other hand, are coming into Stillwater, Ok with a chip on their shoulders, especially on defense. After falling short of their goals and expectation last year, this years' team is looking to re-establish their swagger on defense and unload some new weapons on offense.
Here are a few things to look for, as the two teams take the field at 3:30pm on ABC Saturday.....

- Dawgs defense vs. the "3 headed monster" Oklahoma State offense- RB Kendall Hunter, QB Zac Robinson and WR Dez Bryant put the Cowboys in position to put up points each time they take the field. I would think that the realistic expectations for the Dawgs would be to slow down the Cowboy offense and possibly come up with some key turnovers here and there to come away with a victory. Nobody expects Oklahoma States offense to be shutout.... But, if you can slow them down and get some key stops, you've had a good day.

- What will Georgia's identity be on offense? - The Dawgs bring a nice blend of veteran skill position players (WR A.J. Green, FB Shaun Chapas) and freshmen (WR Marlon Brown, WR Rantavious Wooten, TE Orson Charles), along with new starting RB Richard Samuel and QB Joe Cox, to Stillwater. How the offense utilizes all of their weapons behind a big, talented offensive line will be fun to watch on Saturday.

- Georgia's Defensive Ends- Will the Dawgs be able to put pressure on QB Zac Robinson? Rob Battle, Demarcus Dobbs and Co. will be called upon to step up. As will converted LB Marcus Washington and speedster Cornelius Washington.

- Joe Cox - something tells me Joe will not only make it to the game, but, will trot onto the field when Georgia's offense gets the ball for the first time. Cox has waited his turn, paid his dues and is a natural born leader. Now is his time to shine!
