Turnovers Spoil Dawgs Season Opener

Stillwater, Ok- It was not the season opener the Dawgs had hoped for Saturday afternoon, as the Oklahoma State Cowboys, ranked #9, downed Georgia 24-10.The Dawgs were able to run the ball fairly effectively, with Richard Samuel racking up 87 yards on 20 carries. And, the defense played well, as they held the Cowboys high-powered offense in check for most of the day. However, the key stat at the end of the day was turnovers: Georgia had 3, Ok. State had none. The Dawgs opened the game with a long offensive drive to take a 7-0 lead. But, over the remainder of the game, the Dawgs failed to score as they turned the ball over on 2 fumbles and an interception. The Cowboys star QB Zac Robinson was held to 135 yards passing and star receiver Dez Bryant only managed 3 catches, but, two went for scores. With South Carolina coming to Athens next week, the Dawgs must correct their mistakes quickly and get off to a better start against SEC play.
